Duties:
The family will inform you of the hours that you should work. Ensure that you are awake and ready to start work at the time requested. You will normally be requested to do light house work e.g. Dusting, Vacuuming, Using the washing machine, Ironing, General Cleaning and tidying, some simple cooking or meal preparation, washing up dishes and helping with the evening meal. You will also be expected to help with the children, taking them to and from school, bathing, preparing light snacks and playing with them. You may also be requested to baby-sit up to 2 evenings per week.
Free time:
You will be given free time as shown on the family registration form. This will be at least 2 days per week and the amount of free time given will depend upon the hours that have been agreed upon for you to work.
Please make sure that you will feel comfortable with the family and that you will be able to fulfil their wishes before you except the placement. If there are any points on which you do not agree then it is important that the host family is made aware of this. You must try your best to be friendly, helpful and cheerful as well as willing to learn. This will help to create a good warm relationship between you and your family. You may feel lonely and homesick to start with as this is quite normal and your family will be aware of this. Any problems or difficulties you may experience must be discussed with the family, communication is very important to aid you to understand each other.
